 Why 1000 words? _1000 verba qo-te? Language instructors have found that when language learners reach the level of having a 1000 word vocabulary, they are able to have simple conversations in the language. Linguists have also observed that the average daily vocabulary of a speaker, no matter which language they speak, consists of about 1000 words.
